A continuing letter of thanks to our wonderful MAHMA family...
November, 2018Montgomery Arts HouseMalibu, California USA
Dear Friends of MAHMA and the Classical Arts,
We were looking forward eagerly to our next Autumn events, "Kate Shelley and the Midnight Express," (Nov 14); and, "The Cellists," (Nov 19), when the devastating Malibu fires broke out. We were lucky...our family is safe, and MAHMA still stands...but we weep for the devastation in our beautiful neighborhoods. As soon as the evacuations lift, we will begin the clean up and reschedule our concert events so that we can once again gather in the name of music and friendship. We continue to thank all of you, our honored guests and inspirational artists, for helping our world engage in the search to realize its unlimited potential. The arts are a marvelous outlet for emotion and passion, and the creativity involved, be it from the standpoint of the listener, the performer, the student, or of the artistic creator himself/herself, raises our minds and our hearts to a much higher plane. The arts have the power to heal, as well as the strength and influence to connect the soul and the intellect. The arts must continue to thrive as one of the greatest and most unique achievements of humankind!
As a highly active non-profit arts organization, standing strongly, and with great loyalty as a committed member of our community, the Malibu Friends of Music at the Montgomery Arts House for Music & Architecture (MAHMA),believes wholeheartedly that, “it takes a village." We consider very seriously the role that the arts play in this interface. Thank you for continuing to walk the journey with us.
With the very warmest of regards,
Scott Hosfeld, Executive Director Maria Newman, Artistic Director Malibu Friends of Music Kairos Musical Soirees Montgomery Arts House for Music & Architecture
