Open to students with a basic knowledge of music theory and a good knowledge of western music styles and genres. The MAHMA facility offers 4 separate state of the art grand pianos in individual rooms for advanced composition students. Students must provide their own staff paper and pencils/sharpeners/ erasers. Advanced students will present a composition recital at the end of the 10 week term, performed by students and faculty.

The Beginning Theory/Ear Training/Composition Seminar is perfect for students to begin to understand the “language” of music in a useful and meaningful way! Students must provide their own staff paper and pencils/sharpeners /erasers.

Classes
are fashioned in a 10 week
course session. Seminars are not available as individual classes and
must be taken as a whole. Should a
student need to miss a scheduled class, please give 24 hours notice.
With the 24 hours notice, students will be allowed to make up classes in
their
chosen field of study. In the case of sudden illness we will, of course, waive the 24 hour
notice.
Students will be notified of make-up class dates as the session progresses.
Private instruction is available for
individuals at $150.00 per hour.
Scholarships are available based
on merit and/or financial need. Please inquire if you have interest in a music scholarship.

Fall 2012 Seminar Sessions (September - December, 2012).....$350.00
Seminars in all areas of study are set up to provide individual students the opportunity to work at their own pace.
Each student will be provided with ample one-on-one teaching time within each seminar.
Seminars sessions are designed to be ongoing in order to maintain a high standard of learning, and are part of a course of study.
Students will be provided with make-up classes as long as they are enrolled in Malibu Friends of Music programs, and have given prior notice of their absence.
Private lessons in violin, viola, cello, voice, keyboard studies, music theory, composition, conducting and recording studies are available at $150.00 per hour. Scholarships are available by competitive audition and are based on merit and/or financial need. Please inquire should you have interest in a music scholarship.
